Dec. 02, 2018

Portico Chief Operating and Financial Officer Stacy Kruse was one of six women and 21 total honorees recognized Nov. 15 as a 2018 Twin Cities CFO of the Year.

The Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal program awards leaders for contributions to their company and community. Kruse won in the nonprofit category.

The Rev. Jeff Thiemann, Portico President and Chief Executive Officer, said Kruse’s impact extends well beyond financial issues.

“Portico is able to depend on Stacy for her strategic thinking, which connects high expectations for serving our members with all the work employees do throughout the organization to consistently deliver results,” he said. “Through her leadership, we’ve been able to bring many things to life at Portico.”

For example, Kruse led a three-year effort to enhance the quality and efficiency of assistance provided to members through Portico’s Customer Care Center. The work led to the center repeatedly being named among the top customer service centers in its category, nationwide.

Portico's Stacy Kruse recognized as CFO of the YearKruse, who has been with Portico 10 years, said she finds satisfaction in using her financial acumen to help Portico better serve members.

“Finance is the central place where everything about the organization comes together,” she said. “I really enjoy analyzing all the data and using the numbers to tell the organization’s story. Helping an organization succeed is even more rewarding when my personal beliefs align with the organization’s mission, values, and goals.”

In addition to her role at Portico, Kruse serves on the board of the national Church Benefit Association and on the Washburn Center for Children, which helps Twin Cities-area kids cope with social, emotional, and behavioral issues. She also is a member of the Women Business Leaders of the U.S. Health Care Industry Foundation and the Twin Cities-based Women’s Health Leadership Trust.

As part of Portico’s community outreach efforts, Kruse serves meals to the homeless at Central Lutheran Church in downtown Minneapolis.

Kruse and her husband, Norm, have two sons and a daughter.
